Winter is the season for coats and I have a little confession to make I have a slight obsession with them as in I just gave away 8 coats (in excellent condition I might add) to charity and then bought 3 more in the last couple of months, yikes!! What can I say it’s really cold in Toronto and our winters are long so it feels like a practical investment and thus I feel less guilty after a purchase. In all seriousness though I’ve been much better this year as I went with practical classic coats none of which were over $200. All three are also very different, this buffalo plaid one I’m wearing is my dress up or dress down coat, one of the others is dressy and one is a casual parka in olive green. I have been eyeing a classic buffalo plaid coat since last year but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Then on one random day of walking through Winners/T.J. Maxx at the mall to get to my car this beauty popped out at me and once I threw it on I could not resist. I found an almost identical one below (it is the mid-range one) and would have bought that one if I didn’t by chance luck out finding this. I love the vibrant red as in the past I’ve too often had multiple all black coats. It’s also soft, comfy and warm so a good choice for this winter. I wore it here with black skinnies and my Kate Spade bow bag. After making some poor coat choices over the years I now make sure the coat I’m purchasing is classic, warm and practical for everyday use and this one passed all three tests. I’ll be wearing this with jeans and sneakers too or a cute LBD. A great neutral infinity scarf will be perfect with this as well, so many styling options for this coat and it adds a fun element to the sometimes mundane winter outfits we wear for practicality.
I found three options one is very high end, the other mid-range (under $250) and a budget-friendly pick. My fave of the three is the mid-range and I linked to several others in the links above for more variety.
Please stop by this Friday for a bonus post I’m doing featuring an amazing gift guide for all of the kids. I wanted to wrap-up my gift guide series for all the early shoppers!
