I wore this casual outfit last Sunday for a trip downtown with our girls…the look from head-to-toe is made up of my basic wardrobe essentials. I’ve had so many compliments on this jacket and booties which makes me feel great because they were both steals. I love telling people where I got them from and the most common reaction I tend to get is “reeaaally?” …yup really! You all know I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to break the bank to look good. Being casually chic on a budget is easy these days with so many designer dupes and budget-friendly retailers, all you need is some of these wardrobe essentials that I’m featuring below. I personally add on to my wardrobe with some new pieces each season to freshen things up, for example most of us already have a striped tee so picking up an affordable one with a new detail such as a lace-up neck is a simple way to stay on trend. The jacket I’m wearing is sold out but Old Navy does have the exact style available in a different material (I linked to it above and below in the collage), the booties are still available in some sizes and they also have similar ones available that are just as cute. This chambray ruffle-sleeve top was a new arrival but is already out of stock, I’ve always found that great pieces at Old Navy fly off the racks because they are affordable yet so chic. I’ve learned my lesson many times over so now when I’m in the store or online I scoop up a piece before it’s gone.
I picked out the pieces below that can all be mixed and matched for multiple outfit options, everything is a neutral tone and nothing is over $45.
Basic wardrobe essentials for a casually chic look on a budget:
Black skinnies (#7) and lightly distressed denim (#4) are a must for any wardrobe, the basic black denim obviously goes with anything and is great with oversized or layered sweaters. A lightly distressed pair of jeans instantly updates your look and gives you that cool vibe. Pair either of these with the white knit sweater (#2), layered sweater (#6) or striped lace-up tee (#5) and one of these ankle booties(#4 or 10) or super cute slip ons (#3) and you are good to go. To finish off the look add the gray scarf (#8) with the textured jacket (#9-which is the exact style of the one I’m wearing) and voila a perfectly styled effortless look. You are going to feel like a million bucks without having spent much and that my friends is how I stay casually chic on a budget. Two of my fave stores for affordable and on trend fashion are H & M and of course Old Navy.
I’d love to know where you shop for steals?
